Public Theology

This is a reflection on the 1999 impeachment of President Bill Clinton and the deleterious effects that the private immorality of public officials can have in creating a culture of cynicism and apathy, thereby undermining the legitimacy of government, fostering factionalism and strife and creating instability.

The Spirituality Doctrine of the Church is a long-standing but maligned Old School Presbyterian doctrine regarding the grounds and limits of what the Church can do in engaging political discourse. In our polarized day and age, this doctrine is worth recovering to protect the integrity of the Church and her ability to proclaim the Gospel.
